ДАРИ́ТЬ (imperf) - ПОДАРИ́ТЬ (perf) что? (4) кому? (3) я дарю́ ты да́ришь он да́рит мы да́рим вы да́рите они да́рят Са́ша подари́л подру́ге цветы́. = Sasha gave flowers to his girlfriend. Что вы дарите друзьям на день рожденья? = What do you give your friends for their birthdays? And the noun: пода́рок - пода́рки Вы любите подарки? Кому вы дарите подарки? Кто вам дарит подарки?

It's been a while since we decided to share some grammar materials with you. And here is the first draft! Yay! =) It's a table with ADJECTIVES, only in the Nominative case - for beginners. We plan to post JPG pictures here and also share links to downloadable PDF files, so you can print them out and have a closer look. ПРИВЫ́ЧКА (n,f) [privýchka] Кури́ть – плоха́я привы́чка. = Smoking is a bad habit. Де́лать заря́дку – хоро́шая привы́чка. = Doing morning exercises is a good habit. У вас есть хоро́шие привы́чки? А плохи́е? Do you have good habits? What about bad ones? :D

ПИЖА́МА (n, f, uncountable) [pizháma] Зимой, когда холодно, я всегда сплю в пижаме. А вы? = In winter, when it’s cold, I always sleep in pj’s. And you?

ПИСА́ТЬ что? (4) о чём? (6) кому? (3) to write what? about what? to whom? Note the interchange of consonants in the root! Present tense – Ш                Past tense – С я пишу́                               он писа́л ты пи́шешь                         она писа́ла они пи́шут                          они писа́ли писа́ть (imperf) / написа́ть (perf) Он написа́л статью́ о Пу́шкине и сейча́с пи́шет письмо́ дру́гу. = He has written an article about Pushkin and how he is writing a letter (an email) to his friend. The noun письмо is ...

ВЫХОДНÓЙ (n, m) [vyhadnói] The word resembles something, doesn't it? Right, the word ВЫХОД = exit. Why? Because it's the day we go out! =) Look at the ending of this word. It's a noun, but the ending is like that of an adjective - ÓЙ. In each case form it will have an ending like an adjective - выходной - выходного - выходному, etc. The plural will be ВЫХОДНЫЕ (days off or weekend). Что вы делаете в выходные? = What do you do on weekends?

СО́ЛНЕЧНЫЙ [sólnichnyi] Сего́дня хоро́ший со́лнечный день. = Today is a nice sunny day. Please note that Russian adjectives are only used to describe nous. If you want to say something like “It’s sunny today”, you have to use an adverb – Сего́дня со́лнечно.

This simple word might cause you a bit of confusion because it means “a STORE, a SHOP”. And a MAGAZINE is ЖУРНА́Л (n, m) in Russian. And a JOURNAL is ДНЕВНИ́К (n, m). So: Я купи́л этот журна́л в магази́не на углу́ и написа́л об э́том в своём дневнике́. = I bought this magazine from the store on the corner, and wrote in my journal about it. Журна́лы. Мно́го журна́лов!
